What Is Parts Work?

 

Parts work is a gentle, compassionate way of exploring the different sides of yourself, especially those carrying strong feelings, old memories, or protective roles.

 

Some parts may feel overwhelmed, unheard, or stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. 

 

Through this approach, we bring curiosity and kindness to these inner experiences, giving each part space to be seen and understood.

 

How It Might Look in Session

 

We may start with grounding or breathwork to help you settle, followed by a body scan to gently notice what’s coming up.

If a part feels present, you might explore where it would “stand” in the room and take a moment to embody it. This opens up the chance for me to speak directly to that part,  supporting it with curiosity and care.

 

Together, we listen, reflect, and begin to understand what that part truly needs — often bringing surprising insight, softness, and relief.

How This Approach Can Help


When you give a part room to speak and be seen, it often becomes easier to understand — and you might be surprised by what it has to say.

It can help you:

  • Release burdens held by parts trying to protect you
  • Understand conflicting feelings or behaviours
  • Soften harsh self-criticism or inner conflict
  • Heal emotional wounds that feel stuck or unheard
  • Develop a kinder, more compassionate relationship with yourself
