What Is Breathwork?

Breathwork is a simple yet powerful way of using your breath to support your emotional wellbeing. It can help calm the nervous system, release tension, and reconnect you to what’s really going on beneath the surface.

For many of us, life can feel overwhelming or stuck at times. We carry so much in our bodies—stress, memories, emotions we haven’t had space to process. Breathwork offers a way to gently explore and release what we’re holding, without having to “figure it all out” with words.

What Our Sessions Might Look Like

Our first session will include a gentle, full breath assessment to help us understand how your body is breathing right now. We’ll explore together whether there are any signs of dysregulation, such as shallow breathing, breath-holding, or upper chest tension, and how this might relate to what you’re feeling emotionally or physically.

From there, we work slowly and intentionally. I use titration and pacing, which simply means we go at a speed that feels safe and manageable for your nervous system. There’s no rushing, no pushing through, just a steady unfolding at your own pace.

You’ll be guided through simple breathing techniques, tailored to your needs on the day. You'll be comfortably seated  and I’ll offer prompts, grounding techniques, and space for rest and reflection.

Some sessions may feel energising, others calming—each one is unique to where you are in the moment.

This is a collaborative process. You’re always in charge, and everything we do is shaped with care and consent.

 Is Breathwork Right for Me?

Breathwork can be especially helpful if:

  • you find it hard to put feelings into words
  • you’ve been feeling burnt out, tense, or ‘disconnected’
  • you want to explore a more body-based way of working
  • you’re on a healing journey and want something that meets you gently, without pressure

And if you’re unsure, we can talk it through, I offer a free 15-minute phone call so we can see if it feels like a good fit.

Breath Awareness

Breath awareness is the simple, grounding practice of noticing your breath—just as it is—without trying to change or control it.

In a world that often pulls us outward, breath awareness invites us inward. It helps you tune in to your body’s natural rhythm and brings you back to the here and now, where real change begins.

This practice isn’t about doing it “right”, it’s about being curious and kind towards your inner experience.

Calming Breaths

When we feel anxious, overwhelmed or disconnected, our breath often becomes shallow, tight, or even held without us realising.

Calming breaths are a way of consciously shifting how we breathe to help bring more ease and balance to the body and mind.

These kinds of breaths activate the parasympathetic nervous system—the part responsible for rest, repair and safety—gently letting the body know it’s okay to relax.

Balancing Breaths

Energising Breaths

Balancing breaths help to steady the nervous system, bringing a sense of inner balance when you’re feeling off-centre, foggy, scattered, or emotionally up and down.

This type of breathwork is especially helpful when you don’t feel fully anxious or shut down, but something just feels “off.”

It can support emotional regulation, improve focus, and gently bring you back into your window of tolerance.

Energising breaths are designed to gently wake up your body and mind. They can bring clarity, focus, and a sense of aliveness—without needing caffeine or pushing through exhaustion.

These kinds of breaths are especially helpful if you’re feeling low in energy, emotionally flat, sluggish, or disconnected from your body.

Rather than forcing yourself to "get going", energising breathwork invites your system to naturally reawaken.
